I am a seventeen-year-old birder and naturalist with a strong interest in botany, especially native plants, and orchids in particular. I’m also interested in lots of other taxa, including Odonata (dragonflies and damselflies), Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) and birds of course! I love spending time outside exploring and learning about Virginia’s biodiversity, and I also like to travel when I can. I take lots of photos, especially of birds and plants, many of which are posted on this blog.
I originally started this blog in 2017, as a way to practice writing, record my observations, spread information, and share my passion for the natural world. I posted accounts of my birding and planting trips, as well as the occasional essay about environmental issues or citizen science projects I was involved in. As of early 2021, it’s been a long time since my last post. However, those goals are as important in my life now as they were then, and I hope to update this blog more regularly in the future. It is my hope that this blog can be useful, interesting, inspirational, educational, and entertaining to everyone. Thanks for visiting!
